Government & Legal Requests
In short
- We answer valid legal process truthfully about what we actually hold, and we hold very little.
- App data lives on your device and in your own iCloud; legal process about iCloud data is a matter for Apple.
- An authority can ask us to make an app unavailable in its country at [email protected]; we verify it through the authority's official channel first.
An authority can send us two kinds of request, and we treat them differently. This page covers khassinx.com and the studio. Each app’s site adds what is specific to that app.
Requests for data
We respond truthfully to valid legal process about information we actually hold, and we design our products so that we hold very little.
- This website. It has no accounts and no analytics. The request logs that hosting creates are kept by GitHub and Cloudflare, not by us (see Infrastructure Providers).
- Email. We hold the correspondence people send to
@khassinx.comaddresses. - Our apps. Your data lives on your device and in your own iCloud account, not on servers we control. Apps that need a backend service operate without holding your personal data. Legal process about data stored in iCloud is a matter for Apple Inc., which operates it. Each app’s privacy policy says exactly what that app stores.
We cannot hand over what we do not have.
Requests to make an app unavailable in a country
Where a competent authority determines that one of our apps should not be available in its territory, it can ask us directly. We treat this as a routine compliance matter, not a dispute.
A valid request includes all three of:
- The competent authority, identified (the body and its jurisdiction).
- The legal basis: the specific law, regulation, or ruling of that jurisdiction the app is said to infringe.
- The app, and the country or territory affected.
How to send it: email [email protected] with the subject [GEO-REMOVAL] <app> — <country> — <authority>.
Verification. Before acting, we confirm the request through the authority’s own official published channel. We do not act on the incoming email alone, so that nobody can get an app removed by impersonating a government.
What we do. Once verified, we restrict the app’s availability in that territory through the App Store. This is reversible: if the authority withdraws its position, availability is restored.
We aim to acknowledge every request within five business days.
